Shaped by hand.
Folded, stretched and pulled into a tight little ball. Go ahead — give it a poke.
03 Proof
Then it waits.
Good sourdough can’t be rushed. It rests, and slowly rises.
04 Score
One quick cut.
The score tells the loaf where to open up in the oven.
05 Bake
Into a hot oven.
Oven spring lifts the ear, and the crust goes deep, crackly gold.
06 Sing
Listen. It’s singing.
As a fresh loaf cools, the crust crackles. Bakers call it singing.

How ordering works
Order ahead, pick up fresh.
Order before the cutoff, and your bake is waiting for you on Monday & Thursday. Pick up in Stansbury Park, Utah, or get it delivered to Stansbury Park, Tooele or Grantsville for $5.

Yes, that’s really what we call them. Our hens were raised from chicks right here at home, and they lay on their own schedule — so eggs are always subject to availability.
Our story
A mom of two, a backyard flock, and a whole lot of sourdough.
I started baking after my two girls were born — something that was just mine. One sourdough starter (her name is Fern) and a lot of trial and error later, Song & Stem was born.
